Is it safe to travel to Mexico?Mexico is relatively safe in terms of crimes against foreigners. It is no less safe than any major city in the U.S. Additionally, all major movements are made with HFH peer support specialists, who live in Mexico and navigate the highways and communities on a regular basis.

Do I need a passport?No, a passport is not required for entry by vehicle into Mexico or upon return to the United States. A valid, state issued ID and a birth certificate or social security card will allow you re-entry. Should you fly into Mexico, you will need a passport.

Can I fly into Mexico to attend the program?We provide transportation from Tucson International Airport as a part of the program. It is roughly a two hr drive from Tucson to Santa Ana, Sonora. Flight arrangements directly into Mexico will arrive at Hermosillo International Airport. Transportation for groups or individuals can be arranged from Hermsosillo to Santa Ana.

Is There WiFI?Yes, there most definitely is Wifi in the Shared and Private Housing!

Will I Have Cell Service While In Mexico?A lot of people do, but it all depends on your phone plan. Check with your cell carrier for more information on what your particular plan offers. You will have plenty of access to WiFi throughout your stay, including in the shared and private housing.

Will I Be Able to Go Shopping and/of Get Around If I Do Not Have A Car?Yes, we have of team of people ready and willing to take our guests around town to get anything they need to remain comfortable.

Is Mexico Expensive?No, it is much cheaper than the states!

Do I Need to Bring Money?We recommend that you bring money for food, souvenirs, shopping outings and general expenses.

Can I Use Credit Cards in Mexico?Yes, American credit cards and debit cards can be used at most retailers, however, many places are cash only. You can withdraw from Mexican atms and the money is distributed in pesos and the exchange rate is completed by your financial institution.

Will I Be Able To Convert My Country's Currency?Yes, there are a plethora of exchange markets to exchange from your origin currency to Mexican Pesos.

Will I Be Able to Pull Out Money From An ATM?Yes, there are multiple ATMs in every town we work in. They will automatically convert your bank's currency into Mexican Pesos. You do not need a Mexican bank account of Mexican Pesos to use Mexican ATMs - all Visa and Mastercards will works no matter what the country or currency of origin.

Can I Bring My Family?Yes, we have options for private housing/hotels to accommodate groups/families.

Will I Have Privacy?Absolutely! There are shared bathrooms, however, they are able to be locked for private use. Additionally, there are areas around each of the houses to always find your own space, and great neighborhoods to walk and get some fresh air.

Are There Private Accommodations Available?Absolutely! We have private housing options available at additional costs.
